The Agency of the General Presidency of the Prophet's Mosque in Saudi Arabia’s holy city of Madinah has started to receive the first pilgrims ahead of this year’s hajj season.

The agency refers to the chance to serve pilgrims as a “medal of pride.”

It aims to provide “complete care and top services” to pilgrims visiting the Prophet’s Mosque to perform their worship with “comfort and peace of mind.”

The agency focuses on the supervision of the entrances to the Mosque, ensuring the cleanliness of its grounds.

They also provide carpets, the means to lay them out and maintain their cleanliness. Provision of Zamzam holy water is also ensured to keep the pilgrims hydrated.

Furthermore, lighting, sound, air conditioning and many other facilities are reviewed to enhance the experience.

Agency official Abdulwahid bin Ali al-Hattab said the Prophet’s Mosque should provide an “eloquent” service level to pilgrims and visitors, along with implementing the kingdom’s rulings to serve pilgrims.

Hattab also pointed to the importance of educating and raising awareness among pilgrims before their arrival in Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The agency also places an importance on maintaining the women’s sections of the Mosque by providing all necessary services to the visitors and reiterating the same maintenance steps taken previously, said Hattab.

Further steps include the renovation of ablution areas and easing access for female pilgrim’s to Al Rawda Al Sharifah (a revered spot for Muslims, as is many places associated with the Prophet Mohammed) several times during the day and night,

In addition, the agency will appoint trained supervisors who undertake all the service, monitoring and organizational tasks.
