Nine Haj pilgrims give birth in two days

Thursday, August 31, 2017

Nine pilgrims gave birth to healthy babies on Wednesday and Thursday, child and maternity officials in Makkah have said.

The mothers are from different nationalities, the hospital said without giving details.

However, one woman said that she was from Algeria and that she was “very delighted” to have given birth in Makkah, the holiest city for Muslims, Saudi daily Al Riyadh reported on its website on Thursday.

“The hospital has been very accommodating and they made me feel at great ease since the minute I was admitted,” she said. “This is a very special occasion for me and I am so delighted to have my baby daughter here in Makkah. I have already received her birth certificate.”

Hospital officials said they were committed to dealing with people professionally and compassionately under all circumstances.

“It is our duty and responsibility to provide services according to the highest international standards and we are keen on the best conditions for both mothers and babies.”
