Friday, July 20, 2018

A total of 2,810 Kano intending pilgrims have so far been cleared for the 2018 hajj exercise, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Muhammad Abba Dambatta has said.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Alhaji Dambatta said Kano state was allocated with 5,500 seats this year, but so far only 2,810 intending pilgrims fulfilled 100 per cent the laid down requirements for hajj.

Dambatta added that 900 of the cleared intending pilgrims got their visas, while efforts are being made to secure for the remaining intending pilgrims.

He also said 99 per cent of the intending pilgrims had been immunized against all infectious diseases and had been attending the routine sensitisation workshop being conducted by the board at 16 designated centers across the state.

Dambatta stated that the board would soon commence distribution of uniforms, bags and other items to the intending pilgrims in the state.

The chairman said the biometric data capturing exercise for the intending pilgrims had reached advance level, while the hajj exercise demonstration exercise would commence soon.

He, however, lamented that Kano intending pilgrims were facing some difficulties during the biometric data capturing exercise, as according to him one center was inadequate to carter for both government and international intending pilgrims in the state.

Dambatta, therefore called on the authorities concerned to consider provision of additional centre for biometric data capturing exercise in the state.
