8 more trips added to Haramain train’s schedule

JEDDAH — The Haramain High Speed Railway Project has added eight new trips between Makkah and Madinah effective Feb. 13.

Now the trains will make 40 weekly trips on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In view of the expected high rush of commuters in Ramadan, there will be trips throughout the week, according to Operations and Maintenance Director General of Haramain High Speed Train Rayyan Al-Harbi.

Haramain High Speed Rail project represents one of the most important transport projects in the expansion program of Saudi railway network.

Establishment of a 450-km electric-rail track and operational speed of 300 Km/h, the Haramain High Speed Rail (HHR) aims to cater to passengers wishing to travel between the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah connecting them to KAEC, Jeddah.

The trains have been equipped with latest signaling and communications system. The project consists of a high speed electrified passenger line, primarily designed to provide a fast, comfortable, reliable and safe mode of transport, between the holy cities while utilizing state-of-the-art technologies.
