Hafez Yusuf Loonat Achieves Distinction in Qur'an Competition in Makkah

The South African National Qur’an Committee (SANQC) has confirmed that Hafez Yusuf Loonat has passed with the grade of Mumtaz (Distinction).

The South African youngest was competing in the 39th King Abdul Aziz Quran Competition in the Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

While Loonat did not win the competition, he was told by one of the senior judges of that he would be returning back to Saudi Arabia in December to recite a short sannad (chain of narrators) at the hands of Dr Abdullah Al-Jarallah.

SANQC’s Qari Basheer Patel says Loonat has done South Africa proud.

“Hafez Yusuf Loonat will get a chance to recite to the main teachers of tajweed qiraat there in Medina and Insha’Allah he will complete his recitation by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jarallah.”

Qari Patel says Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jarallah is the teacher of one of the Imams of the Haram Sheikh Yasir ad Dosari.
