SGS handles over 104,800 pilgrims this Umrah season

JEDDAH — The Umrah and Haj Committee of Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) kicked off its operations during at its first meeting at the company’s headquarters in Jeddah on Friday. Chaired by Omar Bin Mohammed Najjar, SGS CEO, and attended by the senior executives of SGS, the committee discussed all set plans and implementation mechanisms, and reviewed all operational needs to ensure their readiness before Nov. 20.

Since the start of teh current Umrah season on Oct. 21, and up to Nov. 8, SGS staff at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Madinah have served between arrival and departure approximately 489 international flights carrying 104,832 Umrah pilgrims.

“We are moving steadily toward providing the highest standards of ground handling services and the highest level of security, safety and quality. We are not going to stop there. We will always aim to achieve more to be one of the top ground handling companies,” said Najjar.

“We have set all the necessary operational plans and strategies to facilitate the arrival and departure procedures for the Haj and Umrah passengers. SGS employees are well trained and experienced. We appreciate and acknowledge their relentless efforts to provide the best services to our customers and travelers, and for their contribution to our success,” Najjar added.

The Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) was established as a limited liability company in 2008 with a strategic objective. In 2014, the company was transformed from a limited liability company to a closed shareholding company and in 2015 to a publicly listed company.

The main activity of the company is to provide ground handling services and support services at all 27 airports in the Kingdom. — SG
