Tanazzul Increases by 40% for Hajj 2019/1440

While Hajj is still a few months away and we still need to get through the blessed month of Ramadan, the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (Sahuc) says the Hajj Ministry in Saudi Arabia has increased the Tanazul tax by 40%.

Tanazul is a transportation tax, which is charged for landing in Jeddah or Medina in Saudi Arabia. The Tanazul for Hajj 2019/1440 has been calculated at SAR 1,657.95 (R 6,245) for Jeddah and SAR 1,520.40 (R 5,726) for Medina.

SAHUC’s Ml Vaid said: “Generally the operators would include this in their packages and they could disclose this amount to the hajji’s.”

Ml Vaid says they have also opted for two camps in the tent city of Mina, which has a separate cost from the five days of hajj which falls under the ambit of the moassasasa.

“The Camp B+ for the forthcoming hajj has been relatively left at the same after some negotiations at SAR 1,750 (R 6,592) per person and the Camp A pricing is set at SAR 6,300 (R 23,730) per person.”

Ml Vaid says the ministry of hajj is also moving towards pre-packed food that is prepared in authorized kitchens, a relatively new concept that would be discussed with hajj operators and hajji’s.
