Fraudsters already on the prowl, Oyo govt warns 2020 pilgrims

Sunday, November 17, 2019

Oyo State government has warned all 2020 intending Pilgrims in the state and their coordinators to be wary of fraudsters.

Chairman of the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (Muslim wing), Professor Sayed Malik, gave this warning while briefing the journalists in his office at the Hajj Camp, Olodo, Ibadan.

Malik hinged this warning on different complaints from intending Pilgrims concerning registration for the 2020 Hajj exercise.

He added that the board did not give any condition different from the existing ones for the registration and did not authorise anybody or organization to collect the Hajj fare on its behalf.

He, therefore, urged intending pilgrims to be vigilant and approach authorized coordinators.

Malik also hinted that the state governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, had approved the commencement of registration for the 2020 Hajj exercise following his presentation of the 2019 Hajj Operation report.

He, therefore, called on the intending applicants to come to the office of the board for their registration.

In her own remarks, Secretary of the Board, Mrs Khadijat Olanipekun, noted that the Chairman had met with the board members and identified challenges of the 2019 Hajj with a view to having better exercise this year.
