MARA urges hajj contractors not to receive payments

Sunday, March 22, 2020

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MARA) has urged all hajj and umrah companies not to rush to sign any contract or obligation for the purpose of providing their services to pilgrims.

This is in accordance with the directives of the competent authorities in the sultanate to apply the highest precautionary standards to limit the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ministry indicated that the pilgrims’ choice of companies through the electronic system in the sultanate will not be binding on pilgrims with any financial or legal consequences.

Companies should not receive any financial payments from pilgrims, it said.

The ministry stated that pilgrims should not make any payment to companies unless they are notified of this via the electronic system.

It was decided recently that all mosques in the sultanate will remain closed except for the call to prayer (Adhan).
