Saudi General Civil Aviation issued a notification of the new guidelines, restricting the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from carrying Aab-e-Zamzam water bottles inside checked-in baggage back to their countries.

Aab-e-Zamzam is the water from the well of Zamzam. The water has great religious significance among Muslims and people take it back to their countries in great amount after performing Hajj or Umrah.

All the airlines operating in Saudi Arabia have been bound to strictly ensure compliance with the latest notification by Saudi aviation authorities ahead of Zil Hajj, the holy month for the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.

In case of failure to comply with circulars issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), it will be considered an explicit violation of the Government’s orders.

Saudi Arabia will take legal actions against the violators and airlines travelling through Jeddah or any other airport in the Kingdom, the notification read.
