Pakistan: 10,000 aged, special citizens to go for Hajj on special quota

Federal minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Thursday said that the aged and disabled citizens will especially be facilitated under the Hajj policy. While speaking to the media, he said that 10,000 aged and disabled citizens would be sent to Hajj through official quota, under which 5,000 such citizens and 5,000 of their caretakers would be facilitated.

Haj sea route fails to enthuse pilgrims

“The pilgrims from Kerala do not like the idea of going all the way to Mumbai to board a ship to Saudi Arabia even if the cost comes down by ₹40,000. Our pilgrims favour direct flights though the airfare now is ₹76,000,” Thodiyoor Muhammed Kunju Moulavi, chairman, Haj Committee, told The Hinduon Wednesday.

Makkah vendors banned from selling Holy Mosque souvenirs

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment continues its campaign in Makkah against selling souvenirs of the Kaaba, Maqam Ibrahim and Al-Haram Al-Makki because of what it called “preserving its sanctity” after shops were notified through inspection tours.
