JEDDAH: Weather warnings have been issued for Makkah and Madinah by Saudi Arabia’s meteorological authority on Sunday.

The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection forecast heavy rains and thunderstorms, accompanied by active winds in the holy cities.

The authority, which issued the warning on its official Twitter account, also forecast heavy rains and thunderstorms in Najran, Jazan and Asir regions as well.

It said that fog is expected throughout the night and the early morning in the east and southwest of the Kingdom.

The authority also said that weather fluctuations are expected in some areas from Tuesday and will continue until next Friday Oct. 10, in Makkah, Madinah, Asir, Al-Baha and Jazan.
