Travel advisory – New Heights Travel

Saturday, November 23, 2019

The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has received a number of Umrah complaints
against the aforementioned company.

Mu'tamireen have booked and paid for their proposed Umrah trip which did not materialise.

SAHUC has engaged New Heights Travel (Fazila Malek) on the matters and unfortunately could not yield any favourable response.

On the 18th October 2019, a letter was received via social media on New Heights' lawyers letterhead - contents were inter alia:

  • Apology for the delay in refunds to Mu'tamireen.
  • Citing that the delay is due to reasons beyond the client ( New Heights) control.
  • The client undertook to refund clients within a 21 day period.
  • Undertaking to refund all outstanding monies by 20th November 2019.

Since the 20th November 2019 has now passed and no refunds has been processed, we recommend Mu'tamireen to exercise caution when booking with the respective operator.

We recommend that Mu'tamireen only book with the Ministry of Hajj accredited Umrah Operators.

A list can be found on the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah website: https://eservices.haj.gov.sa/eservices3/pages/TravelAgency/ea.xhtml?dswid=-3465
