The Saudi National Center for Palms and Dates has revealed a rise in exports of Saudi dates by 14.6% during the year 2019 compared to 2018 to reach about SR 865 million ($230.6 million), compared to SR 755 million ($201.3 million) the previous year.

Statistics showed an increase in export quantities by 13.5% for the year 2019 to reach 184,000 tons of dates, compared to 2018, amounting to 162,000 tons.

These achievements are outcomes of the work done by the Ministry of Environment, Water, Agriculture, and the National Center for Palms and Date in addition to the efforts of relevant authorities, and they contribute to the goals of Kingdom Vision 2030 on diversifying the national income.

It is worth noting that the Kingdom has more than 30 million palm trees that produce 1.4 million tons of the finest dates annually.

The center reaffirms its tireless commitment to developing the date and palm sector in the Kingdom so that Saudi Arabia leads the world in the production, marketing, and manufacture of dates.

It is also focused on investing in available natural opportunities and turning them into solid economic bases.

Last January, the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises “Monshaat” launched a 15-week program that aims to develop SMEs through offering the best local and international practices in the agricultural sector, and displaying products or services to investors directly.

Madinah province Governor Prince Faisal bin Salman, last December, launched a services center project that aims to provide date farmers with agricultural, logistic and marketing assistance.
