MADINAH: Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman will inaugurate the 21st Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah and Visit Research on Wednesday.

Held under the patronage of King Salman, the two-day forum — titled “Digital Transformation in the Hajj, Umrah and Visit System” — is being organized by Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research.

Dr. Turki Al-Amr, dean of the institute, said the event would be attended by academic researchers with an interest in Hajj, Umrah and visit studies, experts in digital transformation, and representatives from the public and private sectors, financial and educational institutions and youth leaders.

He added that the aim of the event, which is being held at the King Salman International Convention Center, was to highlight the latest developments in digital transformation in the field and provide a platform for the sharing of ideas and expertise.

Al-Amr said the event served 16 targets and seven programs within Saudi Vision 2030 related to the structure and services of the Hajj, Umrah and visit sector, and to serving guests of the Two Holy Mosques.

He added that 30 speakers would take part in six scientific sessions to discuss the application and governance of digital transformation in the Hajj and Umrah system, and said there would also be workshops and an exhibition.

Another of the events is Hajjathon 2022, a tech competition that aims to connect young people with the Hajj and is in line with the Kingdom’s efforts to stimulate innovation.
